The fourth of July celebrations started in Michigan City, where I was crowned my local title Miss Duneland only a few months prior. This community has been so supportive of the Miss Duneland and Miss Indiana Organizations I was very pleased to be back for my first parade as Miss Indiana! It was VERY hot but a remarkable feeling to have kids wave and say “Hi, Miss Indiana!!” I almost cried!
I was also invited to sing at the Celebrate America event in Goshen. My community was once again extremely supportive and was very anxious to hear the song I sang to win the Miss Indiana crown. The next morning I was in Carmel for the Carmelfest Celebrity breakfast and Parade. I had such a great time with the many veterans at the breakfast and seeing thousands at the parade. I then made my way to Zionsville Lion’s Park. The Lions club in Zionsville are such a giving group and I am so thankful for their support of the Miss Indiana Organization. I sang the national anthem, played on the playground with Brianna (Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen 2011) and even judged the watermelon eating contest, which was the messiest and funniest thing I have seen in awhile.
